19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.
It is his first championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from March of that year.
Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on court had led observers to question if his skill to play at the elite level was over.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a final set.
Moutet saved four early-game break points in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
